La magnífica entrada del virrey Diego Morcillo Rubio de Auñón (Villarobledo, 1642 — Lima, 1730) a la Villa Imperial de Potosí, el 25 de abril de 1716, fue inmortalizada por el entonces más destacado pintor de la Real Audiencia de Charcas: Melchor Pérez Holguín. Este testimonio visual es único por su detallada descripción visual de la vida urbana de una de las ciudades más importantes en los dominios americanos del imperio español.
